DAS UK Group partnered with Instech London to host ‘The Confluence of InsurTech, LawTech and PropTech’ event at the Steel Yard in London recently. Our Innovation Manager – Matthew Vamplew – looks at what he learnt from the event…
The common theme between insurtech, proptech and lawtech was the role of data as the currency of trust and commercial value. It was clear that it touches every business area and customer alike, yet there was general consensus that while unstructured data (unformatted data, from a variety sources) held the most value, it was the hardest area to get information from. This of course, is an area a number of data/artificial intelligence start-ups can fill.
There was agreement that each segment could do better to work with one another, with ideas ranging from more effective data integration and sharing, such as harnessing Application Programming Interfaces, to co-created propositions and customer engagement strategies (I even overhead meetings being organised around these topics during the networking session).

The conversation of collaboration will be one that is ongoing, and as new technology further fragments the value chain, the role of each segment and how they interact with each other will certainly change over time.
