As with all insurance policies, there are important terms and conditions to bear in mind. Some of the key ones are…..

The event must be covered by the policy and you cannot claim for problems that start before the date your cover begins.
Also, any legal costs you incur before we have agreed to cover your claim will not be covered, for example the cost of consulting your own lawyer. However, we may still be able to take your claim forward.
And finally, a couple of points to make a note of should you need to use your policy...
First of all, we will check your claim is covered.
If it is, we'll provide you with a lawyer who specialises in the law relating to your claim. The lawyer will then assess how likely it is you will win your case. This is referred to as 'prospects of success' and it's worth noting this is a normal part of the legal process.
If your lawyer believes you are more likely than not to win, then good news: they will take on your case. And your legal costs and expenses will be covered up to the amount shown in the policy wording. This also includes the other side's costs if you lose.
Please bear in mind that prospects of success can change throughout a case. If at any time your lawyer doesn’t believe you are more likely than not to win we will stop paying your legal costs, but as long as your lawyer believes you are likely to win, we'll continue to support your case.
So, that’s Home legal expenses insurance in a nutshell. It's there to fight your legal corner by providing legal advice just a phone call away, and by paying legal costs and expenses should you experience one of the legal problems the policy covers.
